Blue Cap is from the European Folklore Beastiary for Chivalry and Sorcery Role Playing Game by Steve Turner.

Blue-caps, also known as knockers, Tommyknockers, and Buccas in Britain and by
a variety of names across Europe, are faeries who work in mines. Like brownies and other
household faeries, they can either help their human counterparts or cause havoc according to how they are treated.

Blue-caps generally look like dwarves two, or three feet tall, with blue, pointed caps. They can turn invisible at will. Some require to be paid for their work at the same rate as a human miner, and others want food and drink. If they are given short wages or short measure, they stop working.

Miners can find the best deposits by following the sound of their picks and shovels, and they will knock on the walls to warn of an imminent tunnel collapse. They are offended by singing, swearing, being spied on, or anything to do with Christianity. They can react in various ways, ranging from inconvenient to deadly. Candles and lanterns might go out, leaving the miners in pitch darkness; the seam might suddenly run out; or at worst, they might cause a cave-in.
