The Carcolh is a monstrous, snail-like creature from the southern Aquitaine in
France. Its shell is as big as a house, and its body is covered in shaggy brown fur. Six
long, prehensile tentacles ring its mouth.
It lives in a labyrinthine complex of caves beneath the town of Hastingues, seizing unlucky trespassers with its tentacles and dragging them into its mouth. It leaves a great trail of slime wherever it goes, which
shows that it sometimes ventures out of its cave to explore the surrounding area and investigate sources of food.
