The wild hunt appears in different forms all over northern Europe. Accompanied by violent storms, it rides across the countryside taking the lives – and the souls – of its quarry. In some tales the hunt chases down sinners, in others it punishes those who have committed some great crime against the fae, and in others still it hunts any mortal soul it can find.
The only way a mortal can survive an encounter with the wild hunt is to pray. Both faes and demons are repelled by Christianity and its trappings, and they will seek other quarry rather than face one who is protected by faith.
